Position Summary
TekCom Resources is supporting our client a Fiber Owner /Operator/Wholesaler in the search for a Vice President of Field Services, a senior operational leader responsible for building, overseeing acceptance, commissioning, and long‑term maintenance of fiber optic networks across a multi‑state region. This role directs field operations supporting new network integration, preventative maintenance, relocations, restoration, trouble ticket response, and customer‑focused remote‑hands activities.
The VP will lead a team of field technicians responsible for acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, repair, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of fiber networks and shelter sites. This includes work on platforms such as Adva, Nokia, Ciena, and comparable optical and data systems.
A core focus of this role is delivering a best‑in‑class customer experience by strengthening client relationships, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance, and aligning field operations with organizational strategy. This leader will serve as a key liaison between executive leadership and field teams, driving communication, operational efficiency, and consistent execution across the region.
Role:
Leadership & Customer Experience
- Deliver an elite customer service experience across all field interactions.
- Professionally de‑escalate customer concerns and ensure timely resolution.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee field operations and locator teams across the designated territory.
- Coordinate maintenance activities for shelter locations and POP facilities.
- Support emergency repairs and ongoing maintenance of communications infrastructure, including fiber optic cables and network equipment.
- Lead outage response, site inspections, troubleshooting, and restoration efforts.
Training, Quality & Compliance
- Create and implement training programs to meet internal and external requirements.
- Maintain accurate field documentation and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance plans and safety procedures.
- Generate technical reports, analyze system data, and contribute to operational improvements.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of experience in the telecommunications or utility industry.
7+ years of experience in senior management.
Proficiency with construction tracking software and tools.
Strong knowledge of fiber optic network construction, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Knowledge of local permitting authorities, regulations, and processes.
