Energy Marshal
Job Description
The Energy Marshal plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of electrical operations on site. This individual is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and managing adherence to the project Electrical Safety Plan. The Energy Marshal holds the sole authority to authorize activities on energized or de-energized equipment, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
Responsibilities
Complete NFPA 70E training on Electrical Safety Related Work Practices.
Assign a competent back-up Deputy Energy Marshal.
Review the Electrical Energization Safety Program with the electrical contractor and commissioning authority.
Organize and schedule Pre-Energization meetings 5 days prior to energizing or de-energizing critical equipment.
Identify the CM's Energy Marshal and Deputy Energy Marshal at the Pre-Energization meeting, reviewing their roles and responsibilities.
Confirm individuals working on energized or de-energized equipment are Qualified Workers based on NFPA 70E, OSHA, or an accepted qualified electrical safety training standard.
Document Qualified Workers' certifications in a project log.
Deliver a project-specific Electrical Safety Orientation to employees working on energized or de-energized equipment.
Review the electrician's LOTO plan and verify accuracy and proper management.
Review electrician and vendor AHA's.
Confirm receipt of the approved coordination study and ensure all arc flash labels have been applied to the equipment.
Track and confirm all required QA/QC is complete and documentation has been submitted.
Review the daily Pre-Task Plan for energization activities.
Implement adequate communication to the project team identifying daily high-risk activities, energized equipment and spaces, barriers, and off-limit spaces.
Confirm all pre-energization steps have been completed.
Coordinate all energization and de-energization activities with the appropriate stakeholders.
Conduct daily kick-off meetings to review LOTO plans with the project team and stakeholders.
Maintain progress on the posted single line drawings for energized equipment and LOTO.
Conduct pre-energization daily walks with the electrician and project team. Perform end-of-day walks for electrical equipment to confirm all systems are secure.
Confirm adherence to the LOTO plan and isolation requirements.
Add the Energy Marshal locks to each installed lock box with a specific colored lock for identification. Ensure the Energy Marshal lock is the last to be removed after confirming the pre-energization inspection is complete.
Confirm adequate signage and barriers are installed for electrical rooms and spaces with energized equipment.
Confirm an adequate access control plan is in place for electrical rooms and spaces with energized equipment.
Wear a safety vest identifying themselves as the Energy Marshal for easy visual identification in the field.
Essential Skills
5-10 years of experience in a related field.
NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety Training) Certificate.
Data Center experience.
Electrical Construction Expereince.
Medium voltage experience.
Commissioning Experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in construction, energy efficiency, energy audit, data centers, and commissioning.
Knowledge of LOTO (Lock out tag out), Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.
Work Environment
The role requires being on-site from 7 AM to 4 PM at a data center. This is a contracted role with the potential for permanent employment. The position is open to candidates willing to travel or relocate. It includes 2 weeks of PTO and 10 paid holidays. Traveling candidates will have the opportunity to return home every other weekend.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/hr.
