Level 3 Lead - Traveling Structured Cabling Technician
Location: St. Louis, MO (Nationwide Travel Required)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week

Position Overview
Unwired Products is seeking an experienced Level 3 Lead Structured Cabling Technician to support high‑visibility, mission‑critical infrastructure projects. This role is based in St. Louis but requires regular travel across the country to act as the on‑site lead at various project locations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned cabling professional capable of running teams, executing complex installations, and maintaining quality under demanding timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Lead complex structured cabling projects including Network, Security, and A/V installations.
Oversee and direct Tech Level 1 and Level 2 team members; delegate tasks and ensure workmanship quality.
Perform and certify terminations, including RJ45, keystone, F‑connectors, and fiber (mechanical & fusion).
Interpret construction drawings, update documentation, and adapt to field conditions.
Conduct advanced testing and certification using OTDR, cable certifiers, and network analyzers.
Install and dress server racks and build cabling pathways such as conduit, basket tray, and ladder tray.
Complete quality assurance inspections and maintain all required project documentation.
Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, and customer stakeholders.
Produce deliverables and rack documentation using Microsoft Office and Visio.
Work safely in various site environments, including confined spaces and elevated work locations.
Required Skills & Experience
Expert‑level structured cabling experience (Cat5e/6/6A).
Advanced fiber splicing and termination (LC/SC, mechanical or fusion).
Proven ability to lead on-site work, manage schedules, and direct a team of 3-4 technicians.
Experience installing large‑scale rack systems and dressing hundreds of cables.
Skilled in building cable pathways (basket trays, conduits, etc.).
Comfortable independently running full lifecycle project scopes.
Preferred Certifications & Tools
OSHA 30, BICSI certification, aerial lift certified.
Experience with Panduit, Leviton, Corning solutions.
Cisco or Aruba exposure is a plus.
Work Environment
Projects span numerous facilities nationwide, including high‑density IDF/MDF environments.
Travel is required to support cutover windows and critical site work.
Work may involve tight schedules, mission‑critical timelines, and zero‑downtime environments.
Compensation
Hourly Pay: $29-$40/hr (based on experience)
Contract-to-Hire: 6‑month evaluation period with long‑term conversion intent.

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $40.00/hr.
