Job Title: Fiber Technician
Job Description
As a Fiber Technician, you will be responsible for splicing various types and sizes of fiber optic cables, including single-mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon cables. You will analyze and troubleshoot basic technical issues, review and interpret maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents, and perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance on splicing and testing equipment. Additionally, you will conduct optical continuity and conformance testing and make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in diverse work locations such as buried, underground, aerial, and building environments.
Responsibilities
Splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cable, including single-mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon.
Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical issues.
Review, interpret, and work with maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents.
Perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance on splicing and testing equipment.
Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing.
Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.
Essential Skills
Experience in construction, assembly, splicing, wiring, cable, and electrical work.
Proficiency in working with single-mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon cables.
Skilled in OTDR and Power Meter Testing.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Experience in terminations and use of hand tools.
Knowledge of optics, general labor, telecommunication, fiber optic, and fiber optic installation.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $35.00/hr.
