Our international telecommunications manufacturing client is looking for a Senior Mechancial Engineer, Switchgear for their northern New Jersey location.
Senior Mechanical Engineer –Switchgear
Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Lead the creation of detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings for custom low-voltage switchboard assemblies, including complex busbar routing and component integration.
- Technical Leadership: Provide high-level design direction for customer review drawings while mentoring and leading a team of junior mechanical engineers to ensure technical accuracy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a core member of the technical project team, optimizing designs for electrical systems, circuit breakers, and wiring to meet both consumer needs and manufacturing constraints.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: BSEE or BSME with 5+ years of dedicated design experience in custom electrical enclosures, switchgear, or panel boards.
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of 3D CAD software (e.G., Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks) and a deep understanding of electrical system components.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven expertise in Low Voltage systems (Medium Voltage experience is a major plus) and working knowledge of UL 891, UL 1558, or UL 67 standards.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues in a fast-paced environment with strong verbal and written communication skills.
