Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and managing all maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and facilities within a plastic manufacturing environment. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs, supports troubleshooting and technical problem-solving, and drives continuous improvement in equipment uptime, productivity, and maintenance processes. The Maintenance Manager develops and leads the maintenance team, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and partners with production, engineering, and quality teams to support operational goals, minimize downtime, and maintain high equipment performance across the facility.
Responsibilities:
Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance team to ensure safe, effective, and timely execution of all maintenance activities.
Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for extrusion lines, downstream equipment, and facility systems to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Provide technical leadership and support for troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on plastic extrusion equipment.
Establish and maintain maintenance schedules, work order systems, and documentation to ensure consistent maintenance practices and equipment history tracking.
Collaborate closely with production, process engineering, and quality teams to quickly resolve equipment issues and improve overall manufacturing performance.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment uptime, maintenance efficiency, and production throughput.
Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective operation of the department.
Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, promoting a strong safety culture within the maintenance team.
Support installation, commissioning, and improvement of new extrusion equipment, tooling, and facility systems. Prepare and manage annual capital expense projects.
Analyze equipment performance and downtime data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and maintenance best practices for all critical equipment.
Coordinate with external contractors and service providers when specialized maintenance or repairs are required.
Coordinate all environmental compliance activities involving local, state, and federal agencies.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related technical field preferred.
Equivalent combination of technical training and relevant maintenance leadership experience may be considered.
Experience
7+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
3-5 years of leadership experience managing maintenance teams.
Experience in manufacturing plastics, extrusion, food packaging, or food manufacturing are strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, PLC controls, automation, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Experience maintaining extrusion equipment, converting equipment, and automated packaging lines preferred.
Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning tools.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and reliability engineering principles.
Leadership Skills
Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
Ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Working Conditions
Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
Frequent presence on the production floor is required.
May require occasional off-shift support or emergency response to equipment failures.

Compensation Information:
The salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually. The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this salary range is for a successful candidate in the Atlanta metro area. The specific hiring rate within the posted range will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
