GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
Assists the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor with day-to-day operations and limited duties during supervisor absence. Perform a variety of skilled manual labor duties associated with the maintenance of County buildings and equipment, furniture installs, grounds, snow removal, and assistance with HVAC/R and custodial. Work is of a changing nature and initiative must be used to be able to handle different situations as necessary.
DUTIES:
Assists Facilities Services Supervisor with day-to-day operations to include scheduling work orders, coordinating team and coordinating vendors. Performs various administrative tasks during absence of Supervisor.
Assists with the training and onboarding of employees. Assesses team skill level and knowledge to determine best utilization of staff. Assists in ensuring proper work methods, and safe work practices and procedures are being followed.
Sets example for team by conducting facility assessments to identify facility maintenance issues, entering preventative maintenance work orders, and maintain professional demeanor when interacting with leadership, team, vendors and building tenants.
Ensures that County facilities are maintained, operable, and clean and safe for use by employees, tenants and citizens by performing facility services tasks in the following areas: building maintenance, grounds, snow removal, furniture installs and assisting with HVAC/R preventative maintenance, and custodial duties.
Performs preventative maintenance tasks in all areas of Facility Services. Diagnoses malfunctions/problems with and makes repairs to facilities and equipment including all mechanical systems, electrical and plumbing, building interiors and exteriors, related to structures and other areas of Facility Services.
Promptly responds to Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) work orders. Maintains work history and labor hours in CMMS and communicates with requestors and management regarding status of work orders. Investigates, prioritizes and addresses requests for services, complaints, and inquiries.
Ability to interpret documents involving maintenance instructions, sketches, plans blueprints, equipment and procedure manuals and safety rules.
Must have ability to organize and prioritize tasks. Ability to adapt to changing job priorities and conditions.

Ability to perform strenuous manual labor as required for extended periods of time, under adverse working conditions.
Ability to safely operate equipment such as a forklift, pallet jacks and County vehicles including pick-up trucks, snowplows, box vans, hand and power tools.
Knowledge and ability to follow safety rules, regulations and practices.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Three (3) + years prior experience in building maintenance performing duties such as plumbing, electrical and general repair.
Any equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience:
One (1) + year experience as a supervisor or lead.
Prior experience training staff.
Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), background check, physical capabilities examination, and drug screen.
Possession of a valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
Will require fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check.
Post-Employment Requirements:
Successful completion of bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System (CJIS) training.
Position is deemed essential, and incumbents must be available for winter storm and other emergency events and available to work on-call on a rotational basis including evenings, holidays and weekends.
Ability to work nights and weekends based on business needs.
Work locations and facilities are subject to change based on business needs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Incumbent must be available for winter storm emergencies and available to work on an on-call on a rotation basis which requires evening, holidays and weekends. Workday may exceed 8 hours during winter storm or other emergencies.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to hot and cold outside temperatures, dust, grease, chemicals, fumes, etc.
Hazards present in this position are inherent in occupational areas including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, grounds, and HVAC/R.
Tasks require incumbent to use ladders, scissor lifts, bucket truck and work on roofs and tight spaces.
Primary work environment is in extremely high security facilities in which there is occasional physical safety concerns (detention facility) and frequent exposure to highly emotional inmates, citizens, or justice system participants.
ALL FFM staff are considered "essential personnel" and may be required to report to on-site in the event of a weather event or emergency.

Reliable verbal and listening skills and ability to communicate through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar, and in public meetings and personal interactions.
Constant use of hand/eye coordination enabling the use of maintenance equipment.
Ability to use computer or other work-related equipment.
