As a Project Manager, you will lead the planning, execution, control, reporting, and closeout of OSP telecom construction projects. This role requires a disciplined project leader with strong expertise in CPM scheduling, project controls, scope and change management, stakeholder coordination, and field execution. Working closely with the MasTec Wireline Project Management Office, WPMO, this position serves as a key link between the client, construction management, engineering management, and MasTec senior leadership. The ideal candidate will bring strong OSP project management experience, executive-level communication skills, and proficiency with Primavera P6, ArcGIS, Excel, and structured project controls practices.
Must be located in one of these ares and willing to travel to any of these areas. Hybird within Arizona and Idaho only.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
As a Project Manager, you are responsible for directing in-house crews and subcontractors. Also, they work directly with customers and are involved in bidding and billing projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.
Project Planning and Execution
- Lead assigned OSP projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer requirements. Build and maintain project execution plans that define scope, milestones, dependencies, constraints, and delivery expectations while supporting MasTec standards and WPMO governance.
Schedule and Controls Management
- Own project schedule performance through proactive planning, forecasting, monitoring, and recovery actions. Apply Critical Path Method, CPM, principles to manage sequencing, logic, milestone integrity, schedule exposure, and delivery commitments. Use Primavera P6 and related controls tools to maintain accurate schedules, identify critical and near-critical activities, and drive timely corrective action.
Client Reporting and Leadership Engagement
- Serve as a primary day-to-day point of contact for the client and as a trusted project representative to MasTec senior leadership. Provide clear and timely daily, weekly, and executive-level reporting on project status, schedule movement, risks, change impacts, financial performance, and recovery actions. Act as the face and voice of the project in both internal and external settings.
Cross Functional Coordination
- Work directly with client stakeholders, construction management, engineering management, field teams, and internal support functions to align priorities, resolve issues, and maintain forward progress. Lead coordination across functions to support timely decisions, disciplined execution, and reliable delivery performance.
Change and Scope Management
- Provide strong leadership in change management and scope management throughout the project lifecycle. Evaluate requested changes for schedule, cost, resource, and field impact, and ensure changes are documented, communicated, priced, approved, and managed in a controlled manner. Maintain scope discipline and protect project objectives through structured change control.
Financial, Commercial, and Contract Management
- Own project-level financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, revenue, cost, margin, profitability, cash flow, billing, invoicing, cost tracking, and forecast-to-complete. Administer project contracts and subcontractor commitments, monitor commercial exposure, support change order development and recovery, and take corrective action when variances or financial risk are identified.
OSP Program Delivery
- Coordinate OSP construction activities across permitting, municipality and agency coordination, material readiness, subcontractor execution, customer deliverables, and closeout requirements. Partner closely with construction, field operations, project controls, and leadership to keep all workstreams aligned and moving.
Field and Mapping Alignment
- Work with design, engineering, and field teams to support route visibility, build readiness, and project accuracy using ArcGIS and related mapping tools. Ensure project decisions reflect actual field conditions, constructability requirements, and customer expectations.
Risk, Issue, and Stakeholder Management
- Identify project risks, document issues, track action plans, and escalate concerns as needed. Maintain strong stakeholder alignment across the client, field teams, construction, engineering, WPMO, and leadership to support informed decision-making and execution stability.
Safety and Quality Compliance
- Promote a safety-first culture across all project activity. Ensure work is executed in accordance with company policy, customer standards, OSHA requirements, and quality expectations. Support a work environment where safety, quality, and operational discipline are part of day-to-day execution.
Project Closeout and Handoff
- Drive complete and timely closeout of assigned work, including billing support, documentation, customer deliverables, punch resolution, and final turnover requirements. Ensure projects are closed with accuracy, professionalism, and full alignment to contract expectations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in telecom, utility, infrastructure, or construction environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing OSP, outside plant, fiber, or network construction projects.
- Demonstrated strength in change management, scope management, stakeholder management, client-facing project leadership, and day-to-day customer accountability.
- Demonstrated understanding of Critical Path Method, CPM, scheduling, logic-driven planning, forecasting, and schedule recovery.
- Experience using Primavera P6, ArcGIS, or similar project scheduling and mapping platforms.
- Working knowledge of core project management disciplines, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, issue, stakeholder, contract, and financial management.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project reporting tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, construction management, engineering management, and MasTec senior leadership.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project documents, and field-related build information.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credential required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 or more years of project management experience in telecom or OSP construction environments.
- Direct experience working within a formal PMO or WPMO governance structure.
- Direct experience in a highly visible, customer-facing PM role supporting executive-level communication and delivery accountability.
- Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6, CPM scheduling, milestone management, schedule analysis, and recovery planning.
- Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS or related mapping platforms used to support route visibility, field coordination, and project execution.
- Experience managing subcontractors, field production reporting, customer meetings, project controls processes, and project financials.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field is preferred, but not required.

- You have previous site management experience while maintaining a good relationship with clients and suppliers
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with Word, Excel, Project, and have the ability to learn custom software
