Maintenance Superintendent - E&I

The Opportunity
The E&I Maintenance Superintendent for the Roanoke Rapids, NC papermill provides technical expertise and leadership for all electrical and instrumentation maintenance functions to ensure the reliability of mill assets and systems. This role is critical to maximizing productivity, quality, and cost efficiency while supporting company policies, goals, and objectives. The E&I Maintenance Superintendent reports to the Mill Maintenance Manager.
How You Will Impact WestRock
Ensure all electrical and instrumentation activities at the Roanoke Rapids mill comply with mill, company, state, and federal safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
Champion a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to established safety standards, including NFPA\u201170E.
Develop and sustain a culture of critical thinking and troubleshooting to drive continuous improvement in E&I maintenance and overall mill operations.
Lead and manage all electrical and instrumentation maintenance functions for the facility.
Own and continuously improve maintenance reliability programs, including long\u2011term planning and execution of reliability initiatives.
Oversee all preventive maintenance programs covering electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems.
Direct preventive maintenance of critical E&I assets, including transformers, switchgear, breakers, relays, transmitters, measuring devices, and calibration programs.
Respond to and lead resolution efforts for emergency service calls related to power outages and E&I system failures.
Provide leadership, training, and professional development for E&I staff, ensuring team capabilities align with current and future operational needs.
Assess training needs, coordinate technical and safety training, and promote skill development and succession planning within the E&I organization.
Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices, incorporating new procedures, tools, and training as appropriate.
Review preliminary plans for new capital and improvement projects and provide technical input.
Manage departmental budgets, prioritize expenditures, and assist in the development of capital and operating budgets.
Ensure efficient utilization of mill manpower and contractors, including oversight of long\u2011term contract agreements.
Plan and coordinate E&I activities for annual maintenance shutdowns.
Partner with stores and accounting to ensure adequate spare parts availability while optimizing inventory levels.
Ensure maintenance practices support mill ISO certification requirements.
Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization to foster collaboration and operational excellence.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Previous Work Experience

5-8 years\u2019 maintenance experience in a paper mill with minimum of 3 years Supervisory Experience.
