REMEDIAL CONSTRUCTION
JOB SUMMARY
The Construction Manager is responsible for leading the on-site execution of environmental remediation projects within the Remedial Construction Service Area. This role oversees field operations, manages crews and subcontractors, enforces safety standards, and ensures projects are delivered on time and within budget. Reporting to the Principal of Remedial Construction, the Construction Manager plays a critical role in translating project plans into successful field outcomes while fostering client relationships throughout on-site interaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Manage day-to-day construction activities on environmental remediation sites
• Coordinate equipment, materials, and field logistics for project mobilization and execution
• Review and verify utility locates prior to excavation or intrusive work
• Interpret and implement project plans, technical drawings, and specifications
• Lead daily safety briefings and enforce OSHA and site-specific safety protocols
• Supervise and mentor Field Supervisors, Heavy Equipment Operators, and Field Technicians
• Identify out-of-scope work and assist Project Managers in preparing change orders
• Document daily site activity, identify out-of-scope work, and support Project Managers in change order and invoicing processes
• Monitor project schedules and budgets, adjusting field operations as needed
• Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, regulators, and inspectors
• Ensure equipment readiness and maintain clean, organized worksites
• Support bid preparation, as requested, which may include site visits, production estimates, and vendor coordination
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Experience with environmental remediation construction methods (e.g., UST closures, excavation, in-situ treatment, system installation, demolition)
• Understanding of basic engineering concepts and calculations
• Knowledge of OSHA construction standards and the ability to apply them to Health and Safety requirements
• Ability to interpret construction schedules, technical specifications, and site drawings
• Proven leadership in field supervision, subcontractor coordination, and construction logistics
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Experience supporting bids and participating in client and pre-construction meetings
• Ability to mentor and develop Field Supervisors, Heavy Equipment Operators, and Field Technicians
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Experience: 7+ years construction experience, 5+ years supervisory/management experience, 5+ years environmental remediation experience
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This classification requires travel to various project locations. Travel typically includes extended travel, resulting in multiple days and overnight stays. Long-distance drives and air travel may be required. Shift work and holiday work may be required on an as-needed basis.
