Cable Tech III is responsible in assisting Lead Tech with service and installation of high-end communication, cable infrastructures and enhance jobsite productivity. Help build out technology systems which encompass voice, data, and video over copper, fiber optics and wireless cabling.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Must have working knowledge of BICSI standards and installation methods of information transport media, such as:
o Copper data cable termination and testing
o Fiber optic termination and testing
o Coax termination and testing
o Wireless installation
o A/V systems
o Access control and CCTV
· Provide physical labor to install voice, data, and video cabling.
· Be safety conscious and abide by company safety policies.
· Read, understand, and follow the company policies and procedures.
· Able to read construction print and other job-related documentation
· Oral and written skills and ability to communicate with other workers, craftsman, and other trades
· Able to work with basic hand tools i.e.; screw driver, electric drill, etc.
· Must possess the following hand tools:
o Cable snips
o Phillipâs screwdriver
o Blade screwdriver
o Torpedo Level
o Tool pouch
o Tone and Probe set
o Telephone Butt set
o Punch down tool
o Cordless Drill
o Continuity/pair tester
· Administration and recordkeeping â timecards, change orders, material delivery, truck tickets, plan review/verification, scheduling, equipment rental/return, etc.
· On-going training and education at home or work location.
o On-the-job task and equipment training.
o In-person and classroom safety training.
o On-line safety training.
· Housekeeping and general clean-up duties â indoors and/or outdoors.
o Job site, yards, storage areas, office, fabrication shop, mechanic shop, other work locations.
· General material, equipment, and tool inventory, tracking and control â indoors and/or outdoors.
· Inspections (random and scheduled) for day/night jobsite and building security at job sites, yards, storage areas, offices, fabrication shops, mechanic shops and other work locations.
· Vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance compliance checks and recordkeeping.
· Pressure washing job-specific tasks, clean up, equipment, vehicles.
· Raking and spreading materials.
· Other duties as assigned
Education and Requirements
· Possess 3 industry certifications such as BICSI, CommScope, CNCI, NCTI, etc.
· High School Graduate or GED
· Must have own transportation to and from work sites.
· Able to follow directions and work independently
· Must have a valid Utah Driverâs License.
· Must have clean driving record
· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
· Must be able to pass a level 3 background check
· Follow all safety requirements
· Able to lift 90 lbs.
· Able to move on and off ladders safely
· Have the ability to stand and work for long periods of time.
· Good range of motion with shoulders, elbows, knees, legs, arms, and waist. Will lift cable, place cable overhead, go up and down ladders and stairs all day
· Ability to work in a team environment
· Ability to work on and off ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
