Job Title: OSP Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an OSP Technician to work on fiber-to-the-home projects, involving the placement of fiber optic cables and associated construction units, either aerial or buried. The role primarily involves fieldwork, including measurement, staking, marking mileage, and GPS mapping. The technician will provide technical support for construction efforts, interpret as-staked information, and resolve onsite conflicts. Daily tasks are accomplished by following basic procedures and instructions, with some interpretation or analysis required.
Responsibilities
Measure, stake, and mark mileage for fiber optic cable placement
Conduct GPS mapping for project sites
Provide technical support and resolve onsite conflicts during construction
Interpret as-staked information for construction crews
Operate hand tools and related equipment for fiber optic installation
Create field data reports summarizing survey results for construction crews and engineers
Essential Skills
1-2 years of experience in fiber construction, with top pay for those with 3 years of experience
Experience in outside plant fiber-optics, including fiber optic design and staking
Ability to read and interpret fiber plans and specifications
Willingness to travel, primarily in NE Nebraska and Iowa
Valid MVR certification
Proficiency in operating hand tools and related equipment
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience creating field data reports
Knowledge of inspection processes for fiber optic installations
Work Environment
This role involves working in an outdoor construction environment. The position offers opportunities for overtime and advancement within the telecommunications industry, which is expected to remain in high demand for years to come. The work involves travel, primarily within Nebraska and Iowa.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
